EYE-T, Empowerment Yielding Employment through Technology, is a division of Raleigh Lions Clinic for the Blind, Inc., a non-profit agency offering employment for the blind and visually impaired for nearly 40 years.  EYE-T specializes in:

Assistive Technology Training and Development

EYE-T’s Assistive Technology Training and Development program is a comprehensive technology service, unlike any other in NC, designed for individuals who are blind. The computer technology lab is equipped with the assistive technology (AT) most often used on the job, in schools and/or at home. Instructors, skilled in adaptive technology and popular software applications, will prepare trainees to reach their goals utilizing equipment and teaching methods not found in most traditional, technology settings. By empowering individuals who are blind through technology awareness, the opportunities to achieve independence and economic prosperity through employment and/or education have no limits.

Through EYE-T, RLCB will continue to be a valuable resource for blind and visually impaired citizens who wish to increase or advance their technology skills with a mind towards achieving greater independence and social integration. Programs offered through the Assistive Technology Training and Development include:

bullet Remote EYE-T Training for a New Age (RETNA)

Customer Service Training

Participants will receive quality, Customer Service (CS) training focusing on marketable computer and communication skills desired by many employers in this field.  The instruction will integrate the use of assistive technology into the training modules with the purpose of focusing on what will appeal most to potential employers – efficient and productive output.  In addition to technical knowledge, CS participants will be presented with a curriculum emphasizing positive communication, advocacy and effective workplace etiquette. Participants will be introduced to a variety of CS tools and technical “tricks” for self-identification of minor AT glitches. The training sessions are 12 weeks with flexibility for those who need additional instruction. The EYE-T Customer Service Training program will include:

1.    Building Blocks of Success; Certified Customer Professional (CCSP) (International Customer Service Association)

2.    Computer Training using Assistive Technology

3.    Work Experience

4.    Job Placement and Coaching

 

Call Center Management Services

Computer Training Services

EYE-T will begin offering certification courses which represent a rich and varied spectrum of job roles and responsibilities in April 2006. Earning a specific credential provides objective validation of the ability to successfully perform critical IT functions.

Microsoft Certifications are embraced by industry professionals worldwide, Microsoft certification remains one of the most effective ways to reach long-term career goals. Microsoft Certified Professionals stand apart from other IT personnel. They've demonstrated undeniable expertise with Microsoft products and platforms to colleagues, employers, and—most importantly—to themselves. Courses will include: MCSE, MCSA, and MCP.

Earning CompTIA A+ certification proves that a candidate has a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. Courses will include: Security+, A+, and Network+.

Cisco Systems, Inc. is the leading global supplier of internetworking hardware and software. Over 90% of Internet traffic passes through Cisco equipment, making Cisco one of the most sought after certifications. Cisco certifications can help you to land a better job in networking or to increase the salary in your current job. Cisco offers three levels of certification: CCNA or CCDA; CCNP, CCDP, or CCSP; and CCIE certifications.

Authorized Testing Center

EYE-T not only offers professional training courses, they also serve as an authorized Pearson VUE testing center.
