Volunteer

According to the Bureau of Statistics of the U.S. Department of labor (2003-2004), 64.5 million people volunteered their time in some capacity.  Raleigh Lion's Clinic for the Blind offers a  host of volunteer opportunities where your volunteer time matters! We provide programs which volunteers with diverse career skills and backgrounds can be of service to out consumers.

With your support, we continue to build each clients personal success and independence.   Many lives are touched by our volunteers and sharing a small period of time can mean a big step toward positive, personal development and an enhanced quality of life.  We welcome you to get involved and make a difference!

RLCB’s Volunteer programs offer

  • Involvement that contributes to the well being of the individual consumers, and the agency as a whole.
  • A chance to make a difference by assisting our consumers with everyday tasks requiring sight.

How to get involved

Prospective volunteers, at least 14 years of age, must complete a volunteer registration form. The registration form is reviewed, references contacted and the volunteer is interviewed.  We do this to best match our volunteers, with our consumers in the right activity.  Assignments are made after thoughtful consideration of the volunteer service needed, the personality, interests, skills and availability of the volunteer. We make your time, meaningful and worthwhile.

Volunteering is open to all persons regardless of sex, race color or creed.     Persons, who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise disabled are encouraged to volunteer.

Volunteers may not respresent in fact nor appearance any financial benefit from relationships with other agencies, commercial institutions, or activities with which RLCB does business.

Each volunteer is provided a complete orientation and training guidance for their volunteer assignment.  The length and type of the training varies with each placement.
