Easy Access Reading Service (EARS) EARS is a personal reading service for individuals who are blind or visually impaired requesting help with printed materials. Volunteer readers assist consumers with reading literature, completing handwritten documents, organizing information and/or recording materials for greater independence. RLCB welcomes opportunities to expand the EARS program to surrounding counties through our community partners.

Eyes on Health and Wellness Plus (EOH+) EOH+ is a resource vehicle to provide an array of program options to consumers. Scheduled events, designed to empower and promote social and economic equality, will offer information on topics ranging from physical health/wellness to self-advocacy. The purpose of EOH+ is to increase the knowledge of consumers and broaden the availability of community resources. EOH+ offerings are updated on a regular basis.

Representatives In Training for Employees (RITE) The Representative in Training for Employees Program (RITE) is an upward mobility training program. The purpose of RITE is to enhance business and customer service skills in a professional work environment. Individuals move through a variety of departments and positions which increases their knowledge and business accumen. Technology Services Uniquely designed to meet the needs of individuals who are blind, visually impaired or Deaf-blind, RLCB’s technology programs offer a wide variety of adaptive resources to meet consumer needs. Computer skills taught, range from basic keyboarding to advanced application skill development. The lab offers the latest technology to accommodate a variety of adaptive needs. Specialized applications such as JAWS (Job Access With Speech) software, MAGic, ZoomText, Guide, Serotek, Open Book and the Braille Focus display are examples of the assistive technology available through RLCB’s Technology Services program.
Our experienced instructors, skilled in both adaptive technology and standard business software applications, guide students through a series of module based courseware from basic to advanced. Each student’s curriculum is customized to match their current skill, learning pace and their learning objectives. Courseware is available for Microsoft Office (R) courseware, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
